How PVR INOX Made Tuesday a Cinema Day

Blockbuster Tuesdays accounted for nearly 1.2 crore ticket bookings in its first six months. The result is part of a wider effort to give audiences reasons to visit throughout the week.

A major film opening puts the spotlight on Friday and the weekend that follows. PVR INOX wanted moviegoers to consider another day too: Tuesday.

In 2025, the company introduced Blockbuster Tuesdays, initially offering tickets at ₹99 or ₹149. It gave people a weekly reason to make a cinema plan, even when no major release was opening that day. nsearchives.nseindia.com

Why focus on weekdays?

The offer arrived after an uneven year for film releases. In its May 2025 results, PVR INOX said weaker Hindi and Hollywood film slates had contributed to a 9% decline in gross box office revenue for the financial year.

The company had already seen what a special occasion could do. Five discounted cinema celebration days drew 34 lakh moviegoers. Screenings of older films brought in 71 lakh additional admissions. nsearchives.nseindia.com

Blockbuster Tuesdays made that invitation recurring. Audiences could put a cinema visit on the calendar every Tuesday.

What happened when Tuesday became the occasion?

In the programme’s first 15 weeks, roughly ten lakh new or previously inactive purchasers came to PVR INOX cinemas through the initiative, according to an August 2025 investor update. The company counted someone as inactive if they had not bought a ticket for more than six months. nsearchives.nseindia.com

The 6-month figures were larger still. A PVR INOX filing published in February 2026 reported 36 lakh unique purchasers and close to 1.2 crore tickets booked through Blockbuster Tuesdays.

Those Tuesday bookings made up 15% of all PVR INOX ticket bookings from April through September 2025. A weekday offer had become a significant part of the company’s cinema calendar. nsearchives.nseindia.com

A different reason to visit each day

PVR INOX has applied the same thinking elsewhere in the week. Its February filing described Monday offers for seniors, Wednesday offers for women, Thursday offers for students, and Friday offers for younger moviegoers. nsearchives.nseindia.com

It has also used screenings of older films, sports, concerts and other events to give people reasons to visit beyond a new movie release. The point is to make more days and more kinds of programming feel like a cinema occasion.

For brands, this changes how the cinema week can be planned. A campaign can include Tuesday as a meaningful point of contact. The audience making a weekday plan also arrives through the lobby before the show.

That is where Screenox Media’s PVR INOX lobby screens fit into the story. They give brands a place to meet moviegoers as they arrive, whether the visit was planned for a Saturday blockbuster or a Tuesday offer. PVR INOX’s results show that both days belong in the conversation.
